More Tooth Fairy Stuff

I forgot to add this tidbit of information in yesterday's post. I found a SUPER cute tooth fairy craftivity posted on TPT by Angie Neal that would go perfectly with the unit on Teeth. And to add icing to the cake......it's free! Check out this adorable tooth fairy project.

Teeth, Tooth Fairy, and Cavities, Oh My!

I recently purchased this Teeth Writing Unit from Jodi over at Clutterfree Classroom. I didn't really know exactly what I was going to do with it, but it is too stinkin' cute to resist. I decided we were going to study teeth in February for Dental Health month. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to tie in a little Practical Living with Language Arts. I created the Teeth Schema sheet and the students recorded their information. Then we compiled out schema and added it our Teeth Schema chart. After that we watched a Brainpop video over teeth and recorded our information on the tree map (each student has their own tree map in addition to the poster.) The schema poster clipart and the tree map was part of Jodi's packet.
During the week, we are going to read fiction and nonfiction books about teeth. This week the students are going to write a narrative about losing a tooth. Next week, we are going to use our new learning to create an article about dental health and taking care of your teeth. The kids are super excited about this unit. :) Thanks to Jodi for inspiring this unit on TEETH!

Play Ball!

Who doesn't love games? Games are one of my favorite teaching tools because you can use them in so many different ways. Sometimes I use games just to review concepts that I have taught throughout the year. Other times I use them more as a formative assessment for a unit to determine areas where I need to go back and reteach. One of my ALL time favorite games is BASEBALL! My kids love it!

Well, this weekend, I decided to share this game with you. I just posted on my TPT and Teacher Notebook store this fabulous game for the LOW, LOW price of $1. The packet includes instructions for how to use baseball and three different game options...all loads of fun! Snow Day

I spend the majority of my day in my pajamas. We ended up with a snow day today, so I get to enjoy a four day weekend! Whoo Hoo! I got to catch up on some TV and worked on some things to post. One of the things that I needed to complete was a University of Missouri basketball unit that a teacher requested. I originally made the unit to root on my favorite basketball team...GO UK WILDCATS! Once I posted this unit, several teachers requested the unit for their favorite basketball teams. Currently I have the following available on my TPT and Teacher Notebook stores:

Taste the Rainbow!

For the last couple of days, we have been learning how to find the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data in math class. These are fun concepts to teach, but not always the easiest for the kids to understand. What better way to reinforce a math concept than with candy? Skittles to be exact. I SO wish I could take credit for developing this lesson, but I did not. As I have mentioned before, I am A HUGE fan of the gals over at Lesson Plan SOS.
